Two challenges for manufacturers right now

Manufacturing is a great field, but as with any business it comes with its challenges.

What challenges and struggles have you been facing lately? Do you feel like you're the only one facing them?

You might have more in common with other manufacturers than you think. Here are two challenges for manufacturers today.

    1. Technology

It's probably not a surprise that technology is a challenge across the board. Changes are happening rapidly in manufacturing tech and many companies are struggling to keep up.

With so many options out there, it can be hard to choose! Or, you might feel like if you make a big investment then you will soon be lagging behind the latest technology again.

If either of these sound like you, take the time to do an assessment. Which areas could use the most help with technology? What sorts of incremental changes can you make to improve your efficiency? Look at it as a continuous process instead of a one-time investment.

    How could technology help you?

    2. Staffing

As technology and manufacturing changes, companies are concerned about finding and training workers to fill those new jobs.

IndustryWeek reported, "As we enter a decade where U.S. manufacturing should evolve at an even faster pace than the previous decade, manufacturers know they need a skilled workforce and a talent pipeline to support current and future business operations."

Encouraging the next generation to embrace manufacturing while finding ways for manufacturers to keep up with technology will be vital for the industry and the economy as a whole.
