Collecting Data with the LSV/2 Protocol

LSV-2 is a communications protocol that enables two-way command and data transfer in control systems. It’s offered by Heidenhain and is available for numerous applications.

Heidenhain specializes in controls for milling and turning machines, among other equipment, within the CNC industry. The LSV-2 protocol was created as a standard for these controls.

Historically, LSV-2 has acted as a protocol used in communication with DNC networking. MachineMetrics uses it for the purpose of machine data collection.
