How did US manufacturing perform in March?
Reuters reported, "U.S. manufacturing output was unchanged in March after two straight monthly declines, resulting in the first quarterly drop in production since President Donald Trump was elected."
This could be due to factors like tariffs. Production dropped slightly by a little over 1%, but it did not seem to affect the United States financial markets.
“Manufacturing production has pivoted to the downside in the first quarter of the year, showing the revival in factories and output is sputtering for the first time since the Trump economics team took office,” said Chris Rupkey, chief economist at MUFG in New York.Manufacturing output last month was restrained by weak motor vehicle and wood products production after falling 0.3 percent in February.Read More
