AdvancedManufacturing.org reported that 24,000 manufacturing jobs were added during the month of April. They said, "The durable goods sector added 18,000 with non-durable goods adding 6000, according to a breakdown by industry released today by the Bureau of Labor Statistics." The unemployment rate is now lower than it has been since the year 2000. It is wonderful to see manufacturing thriving in the United States!
Manufacturing added 24,000 US jobs in April with the bulk of gains taking place among makers of durable goods. The increase came while the nation’s unemployment rate reached its lowest level in more than 17 years. The durable goods sector added 18,000 with non-durable goods adding 6000, according to a breakdown by industry released today by the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Major gainers included machinery, up 8400 jobs, and fabricated metal products, up 3900. The transportation category added 1800 jobs. However, within that sector, motorized vehicle and parts lost 900 amid softening US light-vehicle sales.
