    Manufacturing jobs in llinois are increasing - 7,700 gained in 2017 - but some think that number should be even higher. "Illinois Manufacturers’ Association Vice President Mark Denzler said it’s good news that Illinois added 7,700 manufacturing jobs in 2017. . . [but] Denzler said manufacturing jobs are good-paying jobs that are going to other states. While Denzler didn’t have the most recent numbers of other states’ gains, he said the manufacturing trends raise an alarm." He claims that the lower tax rates in neighboring states are attracting more business, and that Illinois needs to step up to compete.

Illinois Manufacturers’ Association Vice President Mark Denzler said it’s good news that Illinois added 7,700 manufacturing jobs in 2017. “However, it’s unfortunate news for the tens of thousands of Illinoisans that should have manufacturing jobs, but those jobs have gone elsewhere,” Denzler said. “They haven’t located in the state of Illinois.” Denzler said manufacturing jobs are good-paying jobs that are going to other states.
