Manufacturing businesses have been implementing artificial intelligence for some time now. You can learn from their successes and failures!
There's no doubt AI can do a lot of good for a business - but here's what you should know.
You need good hardware
A mistake some businesses have made is trying to jump into AI without making sure their hardware could handle it.
Industry Week said that in general, "Current hardware cannot manage the growth of AI without more efficient computing power. And access to infrastructure and cloud computing resources will continue to be a high-priority need."
This doesn't mean that you definitely can't handle it - just check first!
It's a constant process
Once you implement AI, you're not done!
Just like with any technology, AI requires constant growth and change.
Machine Design said, "Because systems and processes are constantly evolving, there will never be any AI that works off-the-shelf. Rather, customers need the ability to build, customize, and continuously update AI autonomously, without AI expertise."
If you're not prepared to take this on, outside sources might be the best bet! Those that focus on this technology will know the ins and outs so you don't have to learn everything yourself by trial and error.
It's still growing in popularity
The challenges aren't scaring people away - because AI can really do incredible things!
Assembly Magazine reported, "The total installed base of AI-enabled devices in the manufacturing sector will reach 15 million in 2024, with a 65 percent annual growth rate over the next five years."
If you don't want to get behind, start thinking about this technology today!
